SAINT BERNARD CLUB OF THE TRANSVAAL
I would like to start off by wishing everyone a successful and prosperous 2006.
With the start of the New Year we are launching our club web-site
While we have all spent some time on developing the site already, it is still a work-in-progress. Any suggestions, comments and especially articles, photos or other input will be greatly appreciated.
We are planning an exciting start to 2006 with our 3 SHOW WEEKEND at the end of March. (See the show page).
This show weekend will be the culmination of 8 months hard work and planning by our committee. All 3 judges are experienced Saint Bernard breeders and have been judging Saints for decades in many countries around the world. This is the first time any of these judges have been to South Africa so I would like to urge ALL Saint Fanciers, breeders and owners to make a great effort to exhibit their dogs at the 3 shows. Both the Saint Bernard Club show and Witwatersrand KC show will have written critics, which will be given to each exhibitor after each show. This show weekend is also an opportunity for SA judges to gain additional insight and experience in judging this wonderful breed.
In addition to the 3 shows the Saint Bernard Club is hosting a Breed Seminar in the evening after the first show. While this seminar will be focusing primarily on the recent changes to the FCI standard, we will also discuss the standard in general and the breed requirements. Presented by Dr.Morsiani and Mr.Brieskorn. (See show page for details)
For current SA judges and aspiring judges, this is not a breed seminar to miss. Of course, anyone remotely interested in Saint Bernards for pets, breeding or exhibiting should make attending this seminar their number 1 priority for 2006!
A brief look at the individual CV`s listed on our show page will give you some idea of the knowledge and experience of the 3 judges contracted for the weekend.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the Witwatersrand KC and the Transvaal Midlands KC for allowing us to “piggyback” our show with theirs. They have also provided logistical and financial support, as well as continuous encouragement and other assistance.
Our committee also deserves a big thank you for their efforts in re-building the club. I believe that the forthcoming 3 show weekend will be a great success due to their dedication and commitment. With this positive attitude the Saint Bernard Club will once again play a meaningful role in the development of Saint Bernards in South Africa.
In closing I would like to encourage all Saint Fanciers to become members of the Saint Bernard Club. In this way you can contribute to all aspects of Saint Bernards in SA, be it exhibiting, breeding, pets, welfare, feeding, training or anything else.(see members page)
